KPMG IT Service OOD is an IT service provider with a mission to digitalize the core business of KPMG IT Service GmbH and KPMG AG in Germany and their clients across the globe. We employ more than 200 people in Sofia and deliver the full spectrum of IT services to our clients, including Software Engineering, Application & Platform Operations, Infrastructure and Cloud, and Digital Process Compliance.
Position Overview:
As Team Lead Software Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in guiding and nurturing a team of approximately 15 software engineers. Your primary focus will be to manage and support the team, ensuring that each member is equipped with the tools and knowledge necessary to excel in their roles.
Quality assurance will be a significant aspect of your responsibilities, as you will ensure the delivery of high-quality software solutions by maintaining best practices in coding, testing, and documentation. Your will be involved in the recruitment process, including interviewing and evaluating potential candidates to build a strong and cohesive team.
Overseeing the successful delivery of software projects will be another critical responsibility. You will be responsible to ensure that projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget. Collaborating with stakeholders to plan and prioritize projects, you will allocate resources effectively to meet project goals.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the line management of the team members, including and not limited to onboarding process into the team, performance appraisals, development and improvement plans, salary review process, administrative approvals, training planning, knowledge growth and continuous improvement within the department, in close collaboration with People&Culture.
- Act as a role model, consistently demonstrating and embodying the desired company values, behaviors, and work standards to inspire and motivate.
- Provide mentorship and coaching to the team members in terms of professional and technical development and serve as an escalation point in challenging situations. This includes organizing and facilitating training sessions to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
- Understand the scope of client engagement with a strong commitment to delivering exceptional product and service and guide the team towards achieving customer satisfaction.
- Achieve and sustain high levels of individual and team performance.
- Facilitate improvement in professional and soft competencies of team members and foster a sense of empowerment and autonomy, while providing guidance, support, and accountability.
- Lead constructive discussions and solve controversial issues with key stakeholders in the client organization. Effectively identify, address, and resolve potential and existing conflicts as a third party (between team members or between different teams) or as a participant in the conflict situation.
- Build a collaborative and effective team environment while resolving any conflicts involving team members.
- Encourage open communication in the team.
- Inspire team members and motivate them to reach individual and team goals.
- Supervise projects, serving as escalation point to clients and organization.
- Participate in projects when needed and depending on the current challenges and priorities in front of the team and the company.
- Make presentations to customer, client audiences and professional peers.
What you bring in:
- University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related educational background.
- Strong technical background with minimum 7 years of experience.
- People leadership experience and potential to grow in the area.
- Experience with Agile development methodologies (Scrum / Kanban).
- А strong focus on improving operational efficiency, streamlining processes, and implementing best practices.
- Ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership, business stakeholders, and technical teams.
- A highly customer-oriented approach, with the ability to proactively manage relationships with key stakeholders.
- Great analytic, communication and presentation skills.
- Self-motivated, highly organized, and enthusiastic person, with the ability to share knowledge and present ideas clearly.
- Fluent English language.
