KPMG IT Service OOD is an IT service provider with a mission to digitalize the core business of KPMG IT Service GmbH and KPMG AG in Germany and their clients across the globe. We employ around 200 people in Sofia and deliver the full spectrum of IT services to our clients, including Software Engineering, Application & Platform Operations, Infrastructure and Cloud, Digital Compliance and Valuation of Financial Instruments.
The role:
As an Infrastructure Architect in Collaboration & Data Management department, you will design, implement, maintain, and evolve the infrastructure that supports customer-facing and internal applications and services built on top of Microsoft technology stack, with a primary focus on SharePoint. You will ensure the reliability, scalability, security, and performance of our environments— on-premises and in hybrid or cloud scenarios. This role requires close collaboration with enterprise, platform, and solution architects, DevOps teams, company SMEs, as well as project managers and external vendors, to define and enforce infrastructure standards and drive excellence in the collaboration and data management space.
As an Infrastructure Architect you will focus on:
- Design and maintain infrastructure architectures for new SharePoint applications and platform builds, as well as internal monitoring, reporting, access management, and other systems.
- Lead infrastructure planning and execution of migrations, upgrades, and environment changes.
- Provide infrastructure advisory support to projects.
- Define and enforce infrastructure standards for platforms & applications (e.g., monitoring, reporting, backup & restore, archiving, networking, access management, configuration & installation).
- Collaborate with Microsoft and other third-party vendors to align on product roadmaps and resolve escalations.
- Contribute to department architecture standards and ensure alignment with department, division and company IT strategy.
- Participate in escalation management and troubleshooting of complex infrastructure issues (e.g., SQL bottlenecks, search performance and index freshness).
- Participate in effort, timeline, and budget estimations for infrastructure-related project components.
- Architect and implement enterprise-grade disaster recovery and high availability solutions.
- Lead infrastructure capacity planning and growth forecasting.
- Design and oversee advanced network configurations, load balancing, DNS, and CDN integration.
- Define and enforce security hardening practices, including privileged account management, certificate management.
- Design and maintain custom monitoring and alerting solutions to ensure stable operations of platforms and applications.
- Lead DevOps automation for SharePoint infrastructure, including automation pipelines, automated patching, automated password management.
- Help evolve and enforce department processes and policies.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in infrastructure performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency.
- Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies (e.g., new database engines, virtualization platforms).
- Support hiring and team development by contributing to skill matrices and evaluation methods.
What you bring in:
- Technical Skills & Experience
- Experience in designing and implementing SharePoint infrastructure solutions.
- Deep understanding of SharePoint infrastructure design and typical operational processes.
- Experience with SharePoint farm topology planning, including multi-farm topologies and cross-farm service application publishing.
- Experience with patch management for SharePoint Cumulative Updates (CUs), Service Packs, and Windows Server; experience with zero downtime patching is a plus.
- Proficiency with SharePoint administrative tooling (e.g., Health Analyzer, ULS log viewer, Event Viewer, Performance Monitor).
- Understanding of data governance, rights management, and compliance policies in SharePoint environments.
- Expertise in Microsoft SQL Server, particularly data management, administration, troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in PowerShell scripting, specifically for configuration, reporting, data management, and automation of operational activities.
- Understanding and hands-on experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., Hyper-V, VMware ESX) and Windows Server environments.
- Knowledge of Active Directory, hybrid identities, SSO solutions, authentication protocols and flows (e.g., Kerberos, SAML, OAuth, OIDC).
- Knowledge of enterprise-grade backup, restore, disaster recovery, and high availability solutions for SharePoint and SQL Server.
- Familiarity with SQL Server Always On, Windows Failover Clustering.
- Experience implementing and evolving role-based access control (RBAC) and auditing mechanisms.
- Knowledge of network infrastructure components such as DNS, SSL/TLS, reverse proxies, and load balancers (e.g., F5, NGINX).
- Awareness of Microsoft licensing models for SharePoint Server, SQL Server, and Windows Server.
- Understanding of DevOps practices and tools (e.g., Azure DevOps, GitHub Enterprise).

- Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Microsoft cloud platforms and services: Microsoft 365, Power Platform, Azure.
- Experience in business intelligence & reporting is using Microsoft SQL Server, Power BI.
- Experience with Microsoft Desired State Configuration.
- Hands-on experience with designing and implementing backup, restore, disaster recovery, and high availability solutions for SharePoint and SQL Server.
- Experience with deployment, configuration, and usage of Elastic Stack.
- Knowledge of architecture modeling notations such as C4, BPMN, UML, ArchiMate.
- Certifications in SharePoint, Windows Server, SQL Server, Microsoft 365, Azure, or related technologies.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related STEM field.
